You knew you're my baby
I'm not just in it for the ride
Cos' you knew you're my baby

Nicole

I took the biggest sigh of relief as I placed my pencil down. I had finished the last of hundreds of questions from the bar. I stood from the library's chair and walked towards the front counter.

I was hoping to know my scores in at least a few days. I turned in my exam before leaving the building.

Now that I got that out the way I could relax.

I sat in my ride waiting for my phone to turn on and a tap on my window got my attention. It was my professor.

I rolled the window down.

"Um Mr. Allen...what can I--"

"I'm sorry but I just couldn't wait till after break to talk to you." He voiced as he motioned for me to get out.

"What is it?" I was wondering what was his deal.

"Ms. Bryant I just know you're gonna do just find on the bar so I have some news." I have no clue where this is going.

"So I was hanging out with a few of my friends, well particularly Andre. You see he has a firm and your name came up, so... I recommended you." I was lost for words.

"I was thinking since you're on spring break, if you didn't have anything planned...you could go and talk with him." I really didn't have anything planned but I did want to at least check on my grandma.

"Well it's more like an interview, and it's in Atlanta." Now that caught me off guard. The look on my face gave him an idea of what I was feeling.

"Look, Nicole just take this opportunity." He uttered as he pulled a envelope out of his coat pocket. He placed it in my hands and I unsealed it.

"Mr. Allen...I can't accept this." It was a round trip to Atlanta.

"Yes you can Nicole. Now these are the keys to my loft there. I expect you to take this opportunity." I stood there and thought as a cool breeze swept across the two of us. I gripped the envelope so it wouldn't leave my hands.

"Okay, I'll leave tomorrow. I wanna chill for a few days there first."

"Great. Here's the key to my crib" I was dead with this man. Even though it was obvious he was mixed based on his complexion, he still had the typical personality of a helper.

"How's your family doing?" I asked once I got back in my car.

"Oh their good. Me and Gabi are going to the Bahamas in a few days and my mom's watching Noah."

"Now that sounds nice. Hope y'all have fun." I smiled as I started my car.

"You too, you'll be in the A."

I walked into Gino's with a obvious smile on my face. The news that I'm going away for a while got me really thinking.

I spoke to everybody as I searched for Gino but I ran into Nolen instead.

"Wassup Nicki." He gave me a side hug as we stood in the middle of the restaurant.

"I came by to let your pops know I'm gonna be outta town for a few days."

"Where you goin?" He asked crossing his arms.

"Atlanta."

"Nah shortie, you goin without me?"

"I have an interview for this job; I just finished the bar today."
