Hey guys! Sanya here, interviewing LittleCinnamon (a.k.a) Lindsey Clarke :) ! I have been a fan of Lindsey's work ever since I read her series - 'Dark Sanctuary'. She is one of my favorite writers in the vampire genre. Her take on vampires and werewolves is unique and that's what I love about her stories. If you enjoy reading paranormal/werewolf/horror/vampire you should definitely check out her stories (especially the 'WhiteChapel Chronicles' ^^ ) !

*How would you rate yourself, as a writer?

To be honest, the answer to that question really depends on how I'm feeling about my writing at any given time. There are days when I think I'm a terrible writer - those are the days when I can sit and stare at the screen for hours and write barely 200 words and trust me, that happens far more often than people might think. Then there are days when I read back something I wrote and say to myself 'You know what, you did good there, that's not bad at all.' I really wish I felt like that more often!

*What according to you attracts a reader to the story?

It's a multitude of things and starts right from when they see the cover sitting on a bookstore shelf or in the kindle store. Something has to reel you in and we rely heavily on visuals to do that. Secondly, you need a great blurb. More often than not, if a blurb doesn't hook me, I won't bother pursuing that book any further. Now, what makes a reader stick with a story once they've bought it is far more complex - we need well-developed characters that we can invest in (whether we love them or hate them), a concrete plot that really takes the story from A to Z and we need the right amount of emotion/action/tension etc. All these things help bring each page to life, taking what is essentially 2D into 4D inside the reader's head - if the reader doesn't feel like they're 'living' it, there's no reason for them to stay.

*Do you prefer handwrite first or compose on keyboard? Do you listen to music when you write?

Always keyboard, which to be honest always makes me feel a little sad to admit as I hate this idea that handwriting is a dying art, but for me, I write much faster when on a keyboard so it's all about time management! I'm a huge music fan and am inspired so much by music, but I never listen to music when I'm writing. It's strange because I can write while my husband has the football on the TV and I can write while my son plays his video games, but I find it very difficult to write while listening to music. I think I get too distracted by it, but I do like to listen to it beforehand to help kick start ideas.

*Which genre are you most comfortable writing? Why?

Haha! I think maybe the answer to that is obvious to anyone who knows me but for those who don't, then it's definitely dark fantasy/paranormal and horror. In terms of my novels I tend to stick more to dark fantasy/PNR and my short stories tend to be more horror-based, however I do have plans to write a horror standalone novel at some point in the future.

*What inspired you to write the 'The WhiteChapel Chronicles'? Your vampires and werewolves are very different from what we usually read on Wattpad, how did you come up with that idea?

The Whitechapel Chronicles came simply from an idea that I had when I was experiencing writer's block during my third novel of the Dark Sanctuary series. I was really struggling and so decided to break away and write something else and ended up with what would eventually become the prologue of Playing Dead. When I returned to DS, I just couldn't get this other idea out of my head and realised I had to pursue it and turn it into something more. I had absolutely no idea it would turn into a three book series though with almost 2 million accumulated reads on Wattpad!
