Leo Valdez, ever since he arrived at Kingston High School in junior year had the biggest crush on this one girl. He had no chance with her because well she was perfect and Leo wasn't. Leo, the boy who used to be cocky and sure of himself couldn't even form a word when she was in the same room as him. Which was hard since they shared three out of four classes together. She never talked to him and was pretty sure the only reason she knew he existed was because Mr.Harris always yelled at him, every single day for no reason at all.

Her name was Selena Carson. She was Leo's dream girl. She was perfect in every single way. She was beautiful, smart about everything, which included the metals, cars, math, art. Name it and she was good at it. The girl could even speak Latin and was learning Greek. Leo was convinced he was in love with her. If she was a half-blood this girl for sure was Aphrodite child. She was prettier than most of the goddess' children at camp half-blood, which was saying a lot because they were beautiful in every single aspect. (Maybe not their personality)

Leo sometimes wondered what would happen if he talked to her. Like he just could up to her and start talking until he made a fool of himself. He didn't even have to talk to Selena to make a fool of himself, all he really had too was exist. He's ran into countless lockers when walking past her, trying to act calm until bam he runs into a locker door. He's tripped and fell over his feet about six times this week and it was only Wednesday. Leo had no luck when just walking past her. He would probably die if he tried to talk to her.

Most of the time, he takes a different hall to avoid her. He didn't feel like making a fool some days and would take the long way to get to his class, the class that was only four steps next to where Selena stood sometimes. If he could avoid on the bad days he would. His bad days usually occurred five out of five of the school days, any day that he had to wake up before eight o'clock was to early for him. He missed sleeping in on the weekends and summer.

Selena Carson always noticed the goofy and clumsy boy known as Leo Valdez. It was a total cliche for the 'popular' girl to have a crush on the nerdy goofy boy. She felt stupid because she never had a real conversation with him. She had the majority of her classes with him and yet she never had said hi to him. She had seen him around the halls and once she finally convinced herself that she should talk to him, he would go down a different hallway to get to class or the cafeteria. So she was convinced she hates him.

Why? She wasn't sure. No, she wasn't one of those people who thought everyone loved or liked them. She knew some people hated or disliked her but those people she had at least had a conversation with. With Leo was wasn't sure what she had done. She wished she could just ask but she didn't want to sound like a typical popular chick. "Why don't you like me?" In that typical valley girl accent as she snaps her gum and twirls her hair. No. She wanted to have a real conversation with him and see if it was just her or something more.

"Are you staring at Leo again?" Jane asked. Jane was Selena's best friend. Best friend since before pre-k. Since they were in diapers. They told each other everything, which included the liking Selena had taken to Leo Valdez. Selena blushed but turned away, hoping no one heard. Not because she was embarrassed that it was Leo but that she didn't want anyone knowing she had a crush on someone. Selena only told Jane these types of things, she didn't need anyone else knowing. Not until she knew if Leo liked her back and had chance with him. "You should talk to him."

"Anytime I get close to him he goes down a different hall." Selena muttered, a frown on her face. "No matter what I do, go down one hall he's gone." Selena let out a deep sigh, the frown not leaving her face. She hated feeling this way, like a idiot who relied on a guy to make her happy. She felt stupid, stupid that she couldn't just go walk up to him and tell him that she liked him. Or something as simple as a hi. She couldn't say hi to him.

Leo glanced down the hall, Selena was talking with Jane. Selena obviously wasn't happy or was having a bad day, Jane seems amused by it. Whatever it is. Leo turned back to his friends, or the people he called as friends. He'd never hang out with them outside of school, he'd eat lunch with them and talk during class but that was it. They were close friends that he'd trust or anything. (Not like Jane and Selena.) The one person that knew about Leo liking Selena Carson was Jason. Who didn't give the best pep talks or advice when Leo really needed it.

Leo felt a small tap on his shoulder, the whole group had gone silent three seconds before that. Leo was so lost in thoughts he almost didn't feel the gentle tap. He turned around and was met with her. Her eyes looking into his, they were almost the same height. Leo would say an inch taller but if you asked Selena she'd say she was taller. "Hi." Selena awkwardly smiled at him. Leo had no idea how to react, she was talking to him. "Hello?" Selena titled her head, her eyebrows furrowed when he didn't respond.

"Oh um right, yeah hi." Leo stammered nervously. She seemed to calm down, seeing how nervous he was made her feel better. "Yeah hello." Leo added. He couldn't believe how much of full he was acting like. He had been nervous before, he'd been scared and he had almost died countless times but he had never been this scared or nervous like he was while talking to Leo. It wasn't that she was scary, he just didn't want to embarrass himself in front of her and have her end up never wanting to talk to him ever again. No, he wanted a good impression.

"So Leo I was wondering if you'd like to hang out sometime."

The first thing that Leo thought when he heard that was holy shit.

so I did something cute. Leo is my favourite character, I've lover him ever since he was introduced. He's the love of my life.
