Jaycee's Playlist: "Work" // Iggy Azalea

Jaycee didn't usually get worked up over anything, "upset" just wasn't one of her emotions, but seeing the bambi-eyed look on this innocent girl made her feel a ping of sadness she had almost forgotten existed.

Since she had been adopted by the wonderful Mareli's at the age of thirteen, Jaycee was no longer the nameless faceless child and therefor she had become soft. Not too soft, she was still the toughest girl in school, but the mansions, parties, and her spoiled to the core best friends had washed away the Nirvana song worthy teen angst she had once clung to. So seeing this look, on this girl, made all the memories of feeling abandoned and lonely snap back into her head.

The poor girl looked lost, not lost directionally, but lost in life, like she didn't know who she was, or why she even existed which was an emotion Jaycee knew better than any girl in that room, and before she knew what she was doing, or who she was offending she was lunging towards the the wide-eyed girl, with her hand out, like she was the greeting committee.

"Hi, I'm Jaycee, you new here?"

The room got quite, Celine stabbed the back of Jaycees head with her eyes.

"Um," the girl stood shocked. Why was this girl with blue hair and her friends watching her come out of the bathroom stall? Did everyone at this school act this strange?

"I'm Mae, I just moved here from Portland."

"Portland? Rad, I've been there, love the atmosphere."

Jaycee swung her arm around Mae comfortably, being raised in a house full of children, Jaycee had no boundaries, she felt comfortable around almost anybody and became friends with everyone she knew instantly, that is, if she liked you, and for some unknown reason she genuinely liked Mae.

The timid and shy Mae, tucked her hair behind her ear nervously looking up at the two other girls who were still eyeing her, the whole scenario was awkward and intimidating.

"Oh don't worry about them, these are my friends, Celine and Arabella. They're cool."

Celine flicked her cigaret into the sink not even bothering to look up, while Arabella stood cross armed with a smug half smirk on her face, silently warning Mae to run while she still could.

That's when Mae realized two things; one, these girls probably were cool, quite possibly the coolest girls she had ever met, and two, they hated her, for reasons she didn't know.

"So if you want to sit with us at lunch we'll save you a seat." Jaycee exclaimed turning Mae to meet her gaze.

Mae really wanted to glance at the two stone faced girls and see if they agreed with Jaycee's brash invitation, after all Mae really did want somebody to sit with at lunch. Being alone at this new school was terrifying enough, and she could use some tough looking best friends.

But, Mae knew girl logic better than that, she knew that the two other girls were not okay with it. Probably even giving Jaycee the 'oh god what have you done' look.

They were.

"Thanks, but I actually was invited to sit with someone else already, and I don't want to ditch her." Mae lied, backing towards the door.

"Oh who is it?" Celine's raspy voice hung in the air like the smoke she had just exhaled, she looked down at Mae through her lashes intensely causing Mae to squirm in discomfort.

"Um what?" Mae stuttered, feeling her face get hot from embarrassment

"The girl you're sitting with at lunch?" Celine snorted condescendingly "we know every girl at this school practically, maybe we know her."

"Er, Kelly, I think? But, hey, thanks anyways!" And with that the mysterious Mae slipped out the door and into the hallway, getting lost in a sea of girls with identical uniforms.

Celine narrowed her eyes at Jaycee.

"You. Are. So. Dead. To. Me."

"Oh, don't be such a drama queen Posh Spice." Jaycee rolled her eyes.

Celine couldn't keep from smiling at Jaycees cheekiness.

"Oh well, keep your enemies closer, right?" Celine purred, sliding down off of the sink with grace, clicking her tongue while she gathered her things

"And why is this girl your enemy? She hasn't done anything to you Celine," Celine shrugged not looking up at Jaycee, to be quite honest, she didn't know the answer to that question herself, she just knew that girl was trouble, and not the good kind.

"and plus she looked pretty cool, defiantly doll material."

"She is NOT doll material." Celine snapped turning around to meet Jaycees glare.

"She is not one of us. Period."

Jaycee wanted to argue, but she knew there was no changing Celine's mind once it's been made, and it had been made.

The poor unsuspecting Mae was now on Celine's hit list.
