What Is A 'Oneshot'?
A oneshot is a term used in Fanfiction to indicate a standalone story that focuses on a single situation. Oneshots are one chapter in length, and can range anywhere from 1,000 to 8,000 words.
What Do I Write About?
The theme for this contest is open to your imagination, so feel free to be as creative as you like. We are welcoming oneshots from all fandoms. The most important thing is to have fun! We are encouraging new oneshots for this contest, rather than previously written stories.
Things to Consider
• Pay attention to your grammar and spelling to make sure that your story is understandable and accessible.
• Try to convey feeling and emotion in your story with ample depth and detail.
• Keep your content appropriate for all Wattpadders to enjoy (G, PG, or PG-13).
Submission
To participate, post your oneshot from your Wattpad profile as a NEW story and tag your submission with "fanficfriday". The deadline for submissions is Friday July 18. Along with a creative story title, please ensure you indicate the fandom you are writing about in brackets (i.e., [Teen Wolf Oneshot]). You can submit your best two (2) stories for this contest.
Dates & Judges
The contest will run for one week, starting today, Friday July 11th and ending Friday July 18th. The Wattpad Team will choose our favorite oneshots, and we will announce the winners on Friday July 25th.
To celebrate our favorite entries, the winners of the oneshot contest will receive a shoutout from the Fanfic profile as well as have their story added to a Oneshot Winners reading list.
