Somnium

Author's Note

Okay, I'm new here (to writing but I've read tons of books here :P) so please be nice to me. English is not my first language that's why beware of wrong grammars. Don't copy my story or else... Lol I'm not good in threatening people but you know what I mean.

Okay about the story, I have to explain the plot clearly for you to understand the flow of it. And also check the photo I added. It somehow summarizes what living in Somnium would be like.

For example, I am the main character. The process of Somnium is like this: when I fall asleep I go to the place called Somnium. It's a dream world which basically means it's a world that is just a dream. Get it? Unlike any other dreams, Somnium will be felt real and you can hardly distinguish the reality and the dream itself.

(Back to the example) When I get to Somnium, everything will try to kill me. Everything. It may be people, an object or even the ocean. Just think of it like a series of unfortunate events coming in your way but it would be one at a time. For example; the first day, a grizzly bear would try to attack me and for the second day, the volcano will erupt and so on and so on.

The condition is I have to survive everything and avoid being hurt or worse getting killed because if I die, I may not wake up again or come back to Earth.

Q: What are the differences of real world and Somnium?
A: First, the relative time. Unlike Earth, where clocks are the basis of time, Somnium has no definite time. When the sun sets, it doesn't mean it's night time. There are no clocks, calendars, specific day and night disposition; it is just a ticking clock that revolves around you. Six hours may be 2 days or more in Somnium, it depends on the dreamer because, again, time will be indefinite and irrelevant to both worlds depending on the length and setting of events. Second, the setting for Somnium is like the Mesozoic period; it means that buildings and wifis and EDMs does not exist, but dinosaurs and extinct animals do.

Q: Is it possible to stay permanently in Somnium if ever you don't wanna go back to Earth?
A: Yes. But in Earth, it'll be like you're in a coma state. For those people who chose to live in Somnium are called Lucids. Although there are certain terms and conditions to follow for you to stay in Somnium for good. And I will tell them in the story. :3

Q: Who are the people that lives in the Somnium?
A: Naturally, they don't know they're inside a dream world but Lucids call them Somnis. They live in Somnium and they don't freeze when Lucids wake up, they just continue to move.

Q: Are there variations and classification of people in Somnium?
A: Yes. There would be a lot of people in Somnium. Just like living in Earth. If you are in the Somnium, you will also meet people who are also dreaming only if they have the same age as yours. (17 years old would be the starting age for you to get to Somnium) Remember that. Lucids will also be there but they won't necessarily have the same age as yours

Q: Do people randomly dream and just find themselves in Somnium all of a sudden?
A: It's for you to find out 😉
